Description

IsWe 2 or PN G107.7+07.8, PK 107+07 1, is a large and old planetary nebula in the constellation of Cepheus. It was discovered as late as 1987, by Ishida and Weinberger (Astron. Astrophys. 178, pp 227-236, 1987). It has a size of about 15 arcminutes (4 light years across at a distance of 850 light years).

The Ha structures of the area are stunning as well as the dark nebulosity below and left of the PN (most evident in the RGB image below). However, the biggest surprise is the Oiii emission. There have been reports of IsWe 2 having a Nii emission, for instance here, but I believe this is the first time anyone picked up any Oiii signal from IsWe 2.

All exposures are unguided 120s at f/2 and bin 1x1. A dynamic combination of Ha and Oiii was used, which was recombined into a LRGB image with Ha as Lum and RGB stars.
